Yesterday’s adventure was a continuation of an ongoing project… my front yard.
We started this about 2 years ago. My husband bought our house about a decade ago, and landscaping has been a little low on the priority list. Then we discovered that I may have an allergy to the pollen from oak trees. From December thru February the last couple of years, I’ve been coming down with a “sinus infection” that just wouldn’t go away. In 2014, we realized that this may just be allergies. With over 40 oak trees on the property, it’s not too surprising that the leaves and pollen could be having an effect.
So, after waiting another year (did I say this was low on the priority list?), we had about 12 trees taken out.
Over the last year or so, we’ve added flower beds (no flowers), and lighting up the front walk.
Yesterday, we put the stones in place (about 2000 lbs worth) to shape the last, huge, front bed. Next, we’ll need to add more mulch, and start thinking about plants.
Needless to say, I didn’t get my planned run in. And my back is a bit angry with me today, so no run today either. On the plus side, I really like how this is turning out. I guess that’s what happens when you’re hubby is a highly analytical engineer… it takes forever to complete the project, but it will look great when it’s done.
