I recently received another 24 pack of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I know that everyone on the Interwebs raves about Copics. I’ve been just unwilling to invest that much while I’m learning. Of course, I didn’t expect to want a 2nd pack of these either. Luckily, I found a great sale, and will be waiting for another price drop before shopping for more.
I’m trying out the techniques that I see online for the Copics, and they work the same for these… the difficult part is figuring out what colors to use, since the videos all have the Copic numbers. No YouTube video this time. You guys are probably getting tired of watching the process as I color and put cards together. If there is something you would like to see, let me know. Both this blog and the channel are here so that I can share what I learn with you.
So I’ve been practicing. While watching TV with my hubby last night, I colored a bunch of mermaids from the My Favorite Things’ Mermazing stamp set. They turned out so cute, and my blending and shading have improved enough that I’m pretty happy with the results.
Today, I put together some cards using some of them adding a bit of shimmer with Spectrum Noir shimmer pens, some Glossy Accents, and some Nuvo Drops, as well as some with Tim Holtz’ Cat Chat set… with that one, I’m also experimenting with Distress Ink blending on an embossed background. I think these turned out looking a bit like a rug that a kitteh would be playing on, so I’m happy with these cards too.
I think the “Sending you OCEANS OF LOVE” is my favorite so far, although the mermaid shaker is right up there… both of them will be given to friends this week, so I’ll have to make more. 🙂
Thanks again for dropping by, and have a great day!
